She is a Principal Education Officer in the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA) which is the parent body of college” Nigeria college of Natural Medicine Technology (NICOMNTECH, a training arm of the Agency.).She is the pioneer Director of studies of the College.
Julie Akande graduated from the University of Ilorin where she obtained a degree in Bachelor of Science Education in 1999 and later proceeded to University of Lagos for her Masters degree in Education (measurement and evaluation) in 2009.
she started her career with the Federal Government in 2003 in the Education and Training Unit of the Research department of Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency, a parastatal in the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. She moved on to serve also in the Research policy and innovation Planning department, where she rendered series of roles to implement the Education and training mandate of the organization such as
• Draw up educational policy for the organization to work with.
• Monitor and Evaluate training and development program
• Facilitate training programme for traditional medicine practitioners
• Generate data base for traditional healers across the 6 zones in the Country.
• Design and organize Workshop, Conferences, Retreats
• Preparation of quarterly and annual reports on educational research project
• Training of Traditional healers and others interested in Traditional Medicine.
she has served diligently at various capacity in the organisation, she served as PRO for NNMDA chapter of Academic Staff Union for Research institute ASURI. She was a member of the two strategic plans developed for the Agency, (2018-2022,2023-2027). She also played a vital role in the resuscitation of the Nigeria College of Natural Medicine Technology (NICONMTECH), where she is currently the Director of studies/programme.
She has participated in both local and international workshops which include:
16th International Conference on AIDs and STIs in Africa (ICASA) held from 4th -8th December,2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
