Royal Society-Sponsored Researcher Visits Nigeria for Groundbreaking Collaboration at NNMDA
It was an inspirational and remarkable moment as the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA) hosted one of the leading UK-based pharmaceutical scientists for a week-long scientific engagement. Dr. Shadrach Madu, from De Montfort University, UK, was in Nigeria through the sponsorship of the Royal Society of the United Kingdom. This is one of the major components of an ongoing global research initiative championed by Professor Martins Emeje, the Director General/Chief Executive of NNMDA.

In a series of scientific sessions, Dr Madu, who is one of the over 22 mentees groomed under Prof. Emeje’s impactful leadership initiatives, engaged with NNMDA’s researchers. The highlight of the engagement was his paper presentation on the Development of Novel Multicomponent Crystal Forms of Challenging Drugs: The Panacea for Malaria Elimination.
With the recent launch and donation of Malaria kits by NNMDA aimed at combating the menace of malaria, particularly among the underserved communities, this paper is deemed timely and aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in improving the general well-being of Nigerians. https://radionigerialagos.gov.ng/nnmda-donates-anti-malaria-kits-to-military-and-paramilitary-agencies/

In his remarks, Prof Emeje commended and described De Montfort and the Royal Society of the UK as institutions among many that are strategic and intentional in driving result-based global research partnerships. He said, “At NNMDA, we focus not on status, but on substance – what is right matters to us than who is right”

This collaboration highlights NNMDA’s resilient roles in driving transformative and translational research endeavours in public health and natural medicine.
